Volkswagen has still not thrown any light on the launch date of Ameo, which has been specially designed for the Indian car market as well as developed in India. However, the company has officially unveiled over its social media page on Facebook that it is going to announce the pricing details of the Ameo compact sedan on June 5, 2016. A GIF image has also been attached with this information, which indicates that price could start from INR 5.0 Lakhs and goes up to INR 7.0 Lakhs.

Volkswagen India has also proclaimed a price-guessing contest for this upcoming compact sedan. Five people, who will suggest the most near by price, will be awarded with a valuable prize. Now, following the details of Ameo, it will be available in three trims namely, Trendline, Comfortline and Highline.
Some of the features include automatic rain sensing wipers, cruise control, height adjustable driver's seat, an infotainment system with Bluetooth, CD, USB, AUX, SD card and iPod connectivity, reverse parking camera and steering mounted controls. For safety, the carmaker will offer dual front airbags, an Electronic Stabilisation Programme (ESP), ABS and hill assist control.

Mechanically, the Ameo will get two different engine options – 1.2-litre three-cylinder MPI petrol and a 1.5-litre four-cylinder TDI diesel. Where the former is capable to churn out 74 Bhp of power and 110 Nm of torque, while latter is tune to belt out a power of 89 Bhp and a torque 230 Nm. Both the engines will be paired to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard, but the diesel unit will be mated to a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission as an additional attachment.
Once launched, the car will take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze, Tata Zest, Hyundai Xcent and Ford Figo Aspire.
