On the occasion of 40th anniversary of the model Polo, Volkswagen has launched a special edition car to celebrate this event. This model was introduced for the first time in the year 1975 and this year it has completed its glorious 40 years. Being a limited edition car, it will be produced with just 1,000 units. Although the mechanical configuration will not carry any changes, it will be introduced with certain alterations at the interior and exterior portions. One of the most exclusive highlights of this special edition car is that its exterior body gets a “Honey Orange Mettalic” shade.
Apart from the exclusive paint, this hatchback also flaunts other appealing features. It stands on 16-inch wheels and carries LED headlamps that are offered as standard facilities across the range. The exterior is also etched with emblems of “Polo” as well as “Original”. Moving inside, the cabin displays a dual tone leather trimming of orange and black. The pricing of this special hatchback is fixed around INR 14 Lacs.
In 1975, Polo was brought in the market after re-introducing the Audi 50 model, it carried three engine options. A total of 14 million units of this car have been sold worldwide since its arrival. Currently, the GTI version of Polo that is being sold across the globe offer tremendous performance. Power in this GTI model comes from 1.8 litre turbocharged motor that delivers 190 Bhp output enabling the hatchback to cover upto 100 kmph within merely 7 seconds.
Today, it is counted among one of the best premium models in Indian automobile market. Here, it is available with both diesel and petrol variants comprising a 1.2 litre engines. For transmission there is a five-speed manual gearbox integrated with the engine returning 14.2 kmpl and 19.03 kmpl of mileage in petrol and diesel models respectively. A sedan version of this car is also sold in India with the name Vento with a larger boot space.
