Volkswagen to Abandon its Tag line Das Auto From Jan 2016

Volkswagen has reportedly decided to abandon the “Das Auto” tagline from January 2016. As per the officials, the punch line, which means “The Car” is not in sync with company's new plans of re-building its image. As we all know that the “Dieselgate Scandal” has hampered VW's reputation in the market and hence, the automaker is adamant to come up with new strategies so that the customers see it from a different perspective. With the new tagline, the company is hoping to establish a new yet stronger bond with the audience.

Volkswagen Dieselgate Scandal

The slogan was introduced back in 2007 and since then it has been associated with the brand. Undoubtedly, the words Das Auto add an extra charm to the brand name and apparently until the controversy, everyone seemed to be okay with it. As per the reports, the new tagline will be introduced in stages, starting with the Indian market from this new year. Apart from this, the automaker has also replaced its top management officials and several other changes that will be known at a later date.

If you are still not aware about the scandal, (which is possible only if you were living in an island or a cave) then you must note that it all started in US. The diesel cars of VW were found to be installed with a defeat device that manipulated the emission figures at the time of testing. Later on, the same happened in other countries, including India. As a result, the carmaker had to call back a large number of cars and it was fined heavily.
