Yamaha Motor India, in order to celebrate the successful 10 years journey of its FZ series, has introduced the next generation FZ- S FI model in the current product portfolio. This improved model which has got updates like a new paint scheme, sticker job, and a rear disc brake, is priced at INR 86,042 (ex-showroom, Delhi). In the 150-160cc segment, the FZ-S model which gets painted in all-new Armada Blue paint scheme will go in competition with the likes of the Suzuki Gixxer, Bajaj Pulsar NS 160 and the Honda CB Hornet 160R.
Mechanicals that will propel the 2018 Yamaha FZ-S is similar to the outgoing model. The identical 149 cc, air-cooled, fuel injected, single cylinder motor will pump out the peak power of 13 bhp at 8000 rpm along with 12.8 Nm of torque at 6000 rpm. The generated power will be transmitted to the rear wheel via a mated 5-speed gearbox transmission. While the use of the brand’s patented Blue Core technology aids in returning higher fuel efficiency.
The change which is witnessed in the equipped cycle parts is the introduction of a 220 mm hydraulic single rear disc brake which in association with the 282 mm front disc brake will convey confident as well as precise braking. Moreover, the suspension setup comprises the same old telescopic front forks and a rear monoshock. The alloy wheels are also new and sportier in design.
Besides the FZ-S, the other models from the lineup which could roll out later this year could be the new generation YZF-R15 and the updated R3. Both these models are expected to make their showcase at the 2018 Auto Expo in February this year.
