Japanese outfit, Yamaha has recently launched a naked street performance motorcycle in the quarter-liter segment, named the FZ25. Tagged with ex-showroom price sticker of INR 1,19,500, the motorcycle in question is in direct competition with the other availables in the Indian market like the KTM Duke 200 and the TVS Apache RTR 2004V.
Now a trending report from BikeWale.com is suggesting the arrival of a semi-faired version of the FZ25, that is likely to be christened as the Fazer 250, soon in the country. As the bike maker is offering three bikes the FZ-Fi, the FZS-Fi, and the Fazer-Fi in the 150cc segment. All the bikes are based on a similar platform. The fact has made them believe, the 250cc segment, which in the current scenario is having a wide space could make the Japanese manufacturer to develop a semi-faired iteration of the FZ25.
In an interview to PowerDrift, Mr. Roy Kurien, vice-president, sales and marketing, Yamaha India has quoted while asked about the Fazer 250, “That is like logical, right? Just wait for some time. We will let you know that”
Well, it makes sense for the company and altogether the FZ25 is a perfect platform to craft the Fazer 250, as most of the components would be the same. The inclusion of some touring features like bigger windshield and twin-headlamps on the semi-faired quarter-liter motorcycle, could make the launch of anticipated Fazer 250 soon in India. Moreover, an oil-cooled engine employment would also support the effective cooling after been covered by semi fairings.
On mechanicals, it is likely to continue with the same, 249cc single-cylinder fuel-injected, oil-cooled engine, but with some refinement for touring purpose. The engine is claimed to spits out the maximum power of 20.6bhp at 8000 rpm and the peak torque of 20 Nm at 6000 rpm through the mated a 5-speed gearbox.
There is no information yet about the launch of so-called the Fazer 250. We can expect around a year after the recent introduction of the naked street runner the Yamaha FZ25. Whenever, the bike in question, the Fazer 250 will hit the market, it will be priced at INR 10,000 more over the FZ25.
