Yamaha Motors India has a comprehensive list of export markets all over the globe and for 2017, the Indian arm of the Japanese-based bike maker is thinking to involve more countries to its catalog. According to the reports, the Saluto and Saluto RX variants are now going to be exported to West Africa. The company will make the CKD kits of both the bikes at its plant in Chennai.
After the establishments in Nigeria, Kenya, and parts of East and Central Africa, the Yamaha Motors India is now pacing towards West Africa and craving to add it to its list of export segments in the next fiscal. Both the commuters are going to be exported for the very first time outside the nation. Till date, Yamaha has exported the Crux model made in the Surajpur plant near Greater Noida to the African markets. Interestingly, the Indian market has stopped embracing the said model anymore. Takashi Terabayashi, Managing Director, IYM, said that there was a specific reason behind making CKD kits in Chennai as we can make use of ports within the close period of time for doing the exports. Moreover, following the same strategy, scooters have also been exported to Sri Lanka and Mexico while a number of bikes are going to be added as soon as possible to the export line-up of the company.

Powering the Saluto is a 125cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that is able to generate 8.18BHP in companion with 10.1NM of torque, whereas, the Saluto RX has got an 110cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled motor to form the heart developing 7.38BHP and 8.5NM of torque.
Africa has always been a potential sector for commuter products over the bulky superbikes. Even the bikes, which are disregarded here in India have got a significant attention in the African markets. For the record, Yamaha Motors India went for exporting more than 1.54 lakh two-wheelers during the year 2015-16.
