Yamaha R15 V.3.0 Registers Record Sales in September 2018 in India

The September 2018 has been a great success for Yamaha R15 V.3.0, one of the most selling bikes from Japanese bike maker in India. The entry-level sports commuter managed to earn record sales of 13,054 units as against to 4921 units in the similar month last year. Overall, it’s a rise of 165 per cent for the R15 Version 3.0 on the YoY basis.

According to a sales analysis, last few months was favourable for the third generation R15 with the registered growth of 97 per cent in August 2018. However, the cumulative sales for Yamaha were low at 8081 units. It was only the R15 which recorded positive sales on YoY basis. Also, it is one of the models in Yamaha’s Indian lineup which contributes a major share of collected revenue.

Not only the latest generation R15 model but the last two generations were in most selling Yamaha bikes besides being highly focused on handling rather than the comfort. The R15 Version 3.0 Moto GP Edition’s launch last month could be one of the reasons for increased sales in September 2018. As, for the first time, Yamaha introduced the Moto GP Edition of any of its bike in India.

In terms of mechanicals, the Yamaha R15 Moto GP Edition is an all identical standard R15. However, at the cosmetic front, it features signature racing blue colour with Movistar logo between headlamps and ENEOS logo on the fairing. Also, one can add Rossi’s 46 number only missing element on the Moto GP Edition.

The third generation R15 shares its design cues from the brand’s flagship R. it gets twin LED headlamps and a faux air-intake in the middle. While the aspects such as fairing and split-seat receive different treatment on the new model. The instrument cluster on the upgraded sports runner is an all-digital unit.

Behind the fairing, the R15 Version 3.0 is packed with a 155cc single cylinder, 4 valves, liquid cooled engine. Mated to a six-speed gearbox unit, the engine is liable to generate the peak power of 19 hp along with 15Nm of vertex torque. The R15 V.3.0 is rated to attain the top speed of 135kmph. The vital responsibility of de-acceleration or braking is managed by 282mm disc at front and a 220mm disc at the rear. While the ABS that misses at safety front is likely to be added soon.
