Nikon Unveiled Fastest Ever Nikkor 105mm F/1.4 Aperture Lens

Nikon has unveiled the world's fastest 105mm lens, the Nikkor 105mm F/1.4, and this prime lens is the quickest of the short telephoto lens class. With such a wide aperture, it's not really practical for macro or super-macro photography. The latest lens by Nikon is for professional photographers and low-light, indoor conditions. The new 105mm F1.4E ED is the latest addition to Nikon’s large range of lenses and like all Nikon lenses it is F-mount compatible and is made for Nikon FX cameras, or simply we can say that it is made for full frame Nikon DSLRs.

The Nikon officially said, “Meet the new standard by which all short telephoto lenses will be measured against, the world’s first full-frame [autofocus] 105mm with a f/1.4 aperture. A marvel of optical precision, distortion correction and craftsmanship.”

The lens launched has marked the 100 million Nikon lenses that have been produced by the company. "Surpassing the 100 million lenses produced milestone is a great honor and a testament to the photographers who both love and rely on NIKKOR glass to get the job done," said Kosuke Kawaura, Director of Marketing and Planning, Nikon Inc. "The AF-S NIKKOR 105mm f/1.4E ED represents the embodiment of the NIKKOR line of high-quality lenses, giving photographers a robust, well-balanced lens."

The lens will be made available at a heavy price of $2,200 (Approx. Rs. 1,44,144) when it will be launched in late August. One can look at some example shots of this lens on the Nikon USA site.
