2017 Microsoft Surface Pro Launched with Intel Kaby Lake Processor and Improved Battery Life

Microsoft, the technology giant, on Tuesday has announced its brand new Surface Pro at its event in Shanghai, China. Going along with the expectations, the new Surface Pro has not been named as Surface Pro 5 and comes with some marginal improvements as compared to its predecessor. The new offering by the company is almost identical to its previous version, which was launched in October 2015, but it now features more rounded corners and new 165-degree hinge similar to the Surface Studio.

According to Microsoft, it is the lightest Surface Pro ever made and is also blessed with enhanced battery performance of up to 50 percent, which is capable of delivering up to 13.5 hours of usage.  Moreover, the company has also launched a new Surface Pen along with the laptop, with 4096 levels of pressure input and latency of 21 milliseconds.

Microsoft is now offering Intel’s 7th gen Kaby Lake processors along with the new Surface Pro and the i5 model offers a fanless design. The gigantic technology firm has also unveiled new Alcantara type cover in Platinum, Burgundy and Cobalt Blue colour options. The new Surface Pro of the company might not be a revolutionary one, but it is actually focused on providing an updated hardware to the existing pro users.

In term of Specifications, it is still blessed with the same 12.3-inch Pixelsense display with a resolution of 2736 x 1824 pixels and a 3:2 aspect ratio. It is powered by Core m3 or Core i5 or Core i7 processors and packs Intel HD Graphics 620 on the standard model while Iris Plus Graphics 640 on the Core i7 variant. Moreover, the company is also offering options to the consumers to choose from 4GB RAM/128GB storage, 8GB RAM/256GB storage, and 16GB RAM/512GB storage variants.

In term of optics, the 2-in-1 convertible packs an 8MP rear camera along with a 5MP front shooter. Connectivity options on the board include one full-size USB 3.0 port, Mini DisplayPort, headphone jack and microSDXC card reader. As we all can see, the design of the new offering is same as its predecessor, it is compatible with all the existing accessories and uses the proprietary Surface connector. The new Microsoft Surface Pro features 4G LTE support and will be available in 25 markets across the world from 15 June, with a starting price of USD 799 (Rs 51,800 approx).
