A renowned name in PC manufacturing, Acer is all set to come with a Chromebox. You can say it a mini desktop with option of portability. Acer Chromebox CXI is the new invention of Korean giant that has tried to lure customers with its mini desktop form factor. It will cost $179.99 for base model. This mini desktop will hit the market in September.
This PC will be available in two variants; one is CXI-2GKM and another one is CXI-4GKM which will be coupled with 2GB and 4GB memory respectively. Both variants are appropriate to meet with all purpose. Both have chasis of 6.51x5.12x1.3-inches and use Intel Celeron 2957U processor to boast performance with speed and excellence. 16GB Solid State Drive gives it the boon of booting up in 8 seconds. It is said that its chasis will also be VESA mountable.
On the connectivity front, it seems like this device is made for offering huge connectivity options. Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 3.0 ports and SD card reader are few among them. This desktop PC also has HDMI port and a DisplayPort for external displays and HDTVs. Aprt from this, it also has a combo audio jack which let users to connect their microphone and headsets with the system.
Chromebox CXI will come bundled with Google approved USB keyboard and mouse and VESA mount kit also to make it usable on home as a desktop. This device is meant for security feature that uses TPM 1.2 chip to encrypt user data automatically. It will also helpful for IT professionals when they need to decode the encrypted data. Presenting this system, Acer will give the direct competition to HP and Asus which already deal in the Chromebox PCS.
