HP’s new Spectre model, Spectre 13, is expected to get launched in India on June 21. The laptop in terms of dimensions is 10.4mm thick, and yet features a 13.3, 1080p display. For years Apple has ruled the market of thin laptops with its flagship Macbook Air which is 17.2mm thick, but now HP sits on the throne since Spectre 13 has been titled as World’s thinnest laptop of the world.
The new device also comes with the new HP logo that will be there on all of its premium products. Pricing details are still not clear currently, but HP can go as high as Rs 80,000 or even more to make it as competitive as Apple’s offering.
Apart from the 10.4mm thickness,there is much more to this laptop. The body of this laptop is brought upon by a mix of aluminium and carbon fibre which not only maintains the styling quotient, but also keeps it durable.The Spectre 13 also comes with three USB Type-C ports which are placed on the back of the copper-coated edge. It has 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage in its base model.
Most importantly, it includes either a Core i5 or a Core i7 processor, which are the types of processors that are usually found in the MacBook Air or a typical ultrabook. Laptops of this size usually get Core M processor, which is slower, but doesn't get as hot and allows for a smaller battery.
Mike Nash, HP's vice president of consumer PCs, says he's well aware that Core M is standard for a machine like this. "We know that. We've seen Apple do that," he says. "But our customers want Core i, and I'm here to tell you today we pulled it off."
HP handled the heat issues using a heat pipe, which distributed the heat away from the processor, with two fans that push heat out of the back. For battery, a thin unit is there that takes up most of the inside of the PC and is expected to deliver 9.5 hours of battery with a single charge. This is definetly design and technology taken to a whole new level.
