The Folding tablet Paperfold under prototype form

Have you ever tried of folding your phone? It sounds Strange but it is possible that a phone can be folded and stretched to fit into our desired shape. The Queen's University's Human Media Lab has created a new smartphone named "Paperfold" which can be folded and vice versa. The screen of this phone can be attached and detached so as to serve the desired purpose. It consist of three display screen which can be joined or separated to form new shapes.

The professor of the School of Computing from Queen's University, Mr. Roel Vertegaal and his student Antonio Gomes were engaged in creating such a gadget which can be folded and they will be showing this smart gadget with foldable screen in ACM CHI 2014 conference. They joined three electrophoretic displays which enables user to exercise it as ether tablet, mini laptop or smartphone.

The gadget is currently under the prototype stage and it will be displayed in the same form at the toronto's ACM CHI 2014 conference. Paperfold's all three screens have the property of working individually as well as altogether as per the requirement. The device will take care of its display output by its own after switching. The device works on Google maps as Google earth once folded in convex order. Click here for videos.
