BlackBerry Priv Updated Its Camera, Keyboard and App Launcher

BlackBerry Priv, the first Android smartphone from the Canadian technological firm, has gotten a new set of updates which offer improved camera performance, launcher and keyboard. BlackBerry announced the update on their official blog and said that the application updates are now live on Google Play, including the ones for BlackBerry Launcher, BlackBerry Keyboard, and BlackBerry Camera.

BlackBerry Priv’s Camera now has support for slow motion video (120 fps). The Slow Motion function can be accessed through the camera’s “Mode” button, but does not support audio for now. PRIV’s prediction engine now processes a user’s email, other messages to understand their typing style. It can also learn words with numbers, and there’s an option for the keyboard to suggest names from a user’s contacts. Fine Cursor Control’ mode on the physical keyboard now has an enhanced cursor locator, along with on-screen arrows for easier positioning and control. Additionally holding down ‘delete’ for two seconds now deletes on a word-by-word basis.

In the updated App launcher v1.0.0.4490 for the Priv, brings an enhanced user experience with separate view for personal and work apps. Also, in the default view for apps, users will see them divided into Recent, Personal, and Work. Users can now flick to remove application shortcuts from the home screen, and pop-up widgets that are now enabled by default. Apps installed on the SD card will appear in grey if the card is removed indicating that the app is not accessible.

The recent update is an attempt to overcome the weakest feature of the BlackBerry Priv i.e. its camera quality. The keyboard was the clear USP of the Priv, both functional and practical like any BlackBerry QWERTY. The other strong point for BlackBerry Priv is its call quality as this phone has been enabled with one of the best call quality, one has experienced in recent times, both on the handset and on speaker mode.
