Canada-based company Datawind is known for manufacturing low-cost tablets for education purposes and Aakash tablet computer manufactured by the company happens to be world's cheapest tablet available at a price of US $37.99. Apart from tablets, the company is also known for manufacturing series of mobile internet devices such as the PocketSurfer smartphones, the UbiSurfer netbooks and the Ubislate tablets designed for giving a low-cost internet access on mobile devices.
Now, the company has again expanded its portfolio by adding two more products to its PocketSurfer lineup. The new products dubbed the PocketSurfer 2G4X and PocketSurfer 3G4Z are priced at INR 2,499 and INR 3,999 respectively and will be available in the market through retail distribution outlets across India. Both the smartphones come bundled with free unlimited internet browsing for one year on Reliance and Telenor prepaid SIM cards. However free access to the internet does not include audio/video streaming or local-downloads.
DataWind PocketSurfer 2G4X comes with a 3.5-inch display and runs on Android v4.2 Jelly Bean operating system. It comes equipped with 1GHz Cortex A5 processor under the hood coupled with 256MB of RAM and 512MB ROM that is expandable up to 32GB using external MicroSD card which might dishearten users a little bit, but this smartphone is apt for those who are on the lookout of a budget-friendly smartphone. On the camera fronts too, it differs from the rest bulk of gadgets as it offers a VGA rear camera and one standard front camera. In terms of connectivity options, it offers features like 2G, EDGE, Bluetooth and WiFi.

As far as specifications of DataWind 3G4Z are concerned, it is a bit upgraded than it's sibling as it features a 4-inch display and is powered by a 1GHz Cortex A7 processor. Similar to DataWind 2G4X, this handset too comes with 512MB of RAM and runs on Android v4.4 Jelly Bean OS. However, it has been provided an internal storage of 4GB that is expandable up to 32GB via MicroSD card. Unlike its sibling, it sports a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a VGA front camera for selfie lovers. On the connectivity fronts, it includes 2G, 3G, Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS and even micro USB.
