Finally, Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Launched in India For INR 59,900

The much awaited smartphone from the South Korean biggest manufacturing firm, Samsung has launched its flagship smartphone cum phablet dubbed as Galaxy Note 7 in India. The smartphone was carrying a lot of buzz of leaks from last several months but as for now, it will become available in the country from September 2. The new high-end smartphone will be available in Gold Platinum, Silver Titanium, and Black Onyx color variants. Earlier a week ago, the company has launched the smartphone in New York.

 

The new Galaxy Note 7 features with the dual SIM having a hybrid SIM slot that can take a microSD card up to 256GB instead of second SIM card. Unfortunately, the Blue Coral color variant of the smartphone that was launched in the other regions is not launched in India at this time.

The smartphone pre-bookings begin from August 22 and is continued up to August 30. Additionally, the users will get the new Gear VR at a discounted price of Rs. 1,990. The company has also announced to avail the Reliance Jio preview offer, that comes with voice and data benefits for 90 days along with the Reliance Jio content service.

The main Unique Selling Point (USP) of the smartphone is its iris scanner, this is the first time that Samsung has introduced the feature on its smartphone. As for the other specifications, the handset flaunts a 5.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED display having a resolution of 1440*2560 pixels. It is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The company has also made an improvement in stylus S Pen for Galaxy Note 7. It is also certified with IP68 for dust and water resistance as like the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge from earlier this year. The device is featuring a fingerprint scanner on the home button and is also compatible with the Samsung Pay mobile payment service.

On the software end, the flagship smartphone runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system out of the box with the Samsung's own skin atop. It is powered by a Samsung Exynos 8890 Octa SoC (four cores clocked at 2.3GHz and four cores clocked at 1.6GHz) and is coupled with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM. In some regions including the US will receive a variant that is powered by a Snapdragon 820 SoC (two Kryo cores clocked at 2.15GHz and two Kyro cores clocked at 1.6GHz).

On the photography end, the new Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is loaded with a 12-megapixel rear camera with Dual Pixel technology that allows taking photos in low-light. The other camera specs are Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF), Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS), a f/1.7 aperture, dual LED flash and Auto-HDR feature. The handset bears a 5-megapixel sensor with an f/1.7 aperture.

As for the storage, it has a 64GB of inbuilt storage, that can be further expanded up to 256GB via microSD card slot expansion. The Note 7 is backed by a 3500mAh non-removable battery with the support of fast charging technology on both wired and wireless chargers. The smartphone is compatible with WPC and PMA wireless charging standards.

In terms of connectivity, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 includes 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, MST, and USB Type-C. The smartphone includes an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, barometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, and a proximity sensor on board. Dimensionally, it is measuring a 153.5x73.9x7.9mm and weighs 169 grams.

The new improved S Pen features on the Galaxy Note 7, that the company touted that it has the ability to create a GIF image animations from videos using the smart select feature, apart from the new Air Command functions for magnifying and translate. It has a small tip than the previous iteration and has an improved pressure sensitivity.

For the security point of view, the Galaxy Note 7 security suite supports a biometric authentication from both the iris scanner and a fingerprint scanner. The company is also touting a new Secure Folder that keeps the files as well as entire apps in a secure, separate location that allows the user to have two instances of the same app on the smartphone.
