First Ever Android Equipped Blackberry's Priv Smartphone Launched In India

BlackBerry, the Canadian smartphone maker, has unveiled its first ever Android OS powered smartphone in India. The smartphone has been named Blackberry Priv and comes at a handy price of Rs 62,990. The BlackBerry Priv was earlier launched in November, to western markets and has now been launched specifically for the Indian market.

The BlackBerry Priv has been equipped with Android 5.1.1 with a 5.4-inch QHD display. It has a Hexa-Core (1.8GHZ Dual-Core and 1.44GHZ Quad-Core) processor. It also sports 3GB RAM and features 32GB internal storage, expandable up to 2TB. The smartphone incorporates an 18-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front camera. The rear camera has dual-flash Schineider-Kreuznach certified sensor to deliver crisp images. The device has also been equipped with a very high standard 3410 mAh battery that is capable of delivering 22.5 hours of battery life.

The BlackBerry has paired its hardware with a tweaked version of Android, to make it secure smartphone. The company stated that it will push a software patch every month to fight against bugs and malware on Android device. The pop-up widgets offer users quick function right from the home screen. The BlackBerry Priv also incorporates the company's trademark physical BlackBerry keyboard.

BlackBerry CEO Jhon Chen said that company may launch two more Android phones in 2016, but all that depends on the success of the Priv smartphone. While asked about the future of Android operating BlackBerry smartphone Jhon Chen told, "so far, so good. I'm taking a cautiously optimistic view".

The newly launched Blackberry Priv maintains the reputation of the company by being classy and pricey. The handset will be on for sale from 30th January, in India.
