A few weeks before, there was news of Samsung working on new mid-range smartphones with ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanners which are expected to be launched in 2019. For the sensors, the Samsung had reportedly made a deal with Qualcomm, but now as per reports, the smartphone maker is searching for another supplier for the optical in-display fingerprint scanner.
A report released by a South Korea’s leading newspaper claims that for these in-display sensors which will be included in the affordable smartphones like the Galaxy A-Series, the smartphone makers has made a deal with Taiwanese company Aegis Technology as the supplier. The report also says that the Aegis will make optical sensors as opposed to ultrasonic sensors made by Qualcomm.
As compared to optical sensors, the ultrasonic sensors are more precise. In the upcoming Galaxy S10, the Samsung will include ultrasonic sensors. An advanced version of sensors will be used by the Samsung smartphone which will cover almost a third of a display. As per the reports, until the first half of 2019, Samsung will keep the technology private.

As per the latest reports, some other contenders including MediaTek’s Goodix were also a part of the tender for Samsung’s order.
