Honor 9 Lite, a device launched under Huawei\'s sub-brand Honor, has started receiving the advanced "Face Unlock" feature. Honor on Wednesday announced that it has started rolling out the new feature via HOTA (Huawei\'s Over the Air update), that will be available to all Honor 9 Lite users by 5th March.
A user can manually check a new software update on their Honor 9 Lite device by simply going to Settings> System updates. With the latest new software update users can now enjoy Face Unlock feature on their device by going to Settings > Security and Privacy > Face Unlock and follow the instructions to set up the feature.
The Face Unlock feature allows you to unlock the device using your face. You need to enroll your face by using Face recognition feature in the Settings menu and then simply look at the front camera of the device. This provided facial recognition technology identifies your face and enables an easy unlocking feature over the existing fingerprint, pattern or PIN unlock. Honor also states in a press note that the camera detects the positioning between you and the device and adjust the direction for unlocking the screen accordingly.
"Honor 9 Lite will be the most affordable smartphone in the Indian market to support Face Unlock feature and will further emerge as the best value for money smartphone with superior hardware and software configurations," said P Sanjeev, Vice President, Sales, Huawei Consumer Business Group.
In terms of specifications, The dual-SIM(Nano) Honor 9 runs EMUI 8.0, based on Android 8.0 Oreo. The device sports a 5.65-inch full-HD+ IPS display with the resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels with 18:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by a Huawei HiSilicon Kirin 659 SoC, paired with 3GB and 4GB of RAM along with 32GB and 64GB of internal storage which can be further expanded up to 256GB via microSD card. The device is backed by a 3000mAh battery.

The handset sport with a dual selfie camera with a combination of the 13MP camera along with 2MP depth Sensor(13MP + 2MP) along with f/2.0 aperture. Whereas the secondary lens is used to create a bokeh effect. The phone comes with automatic beautifications, gesture control and moving pictures with the front camera. The handset comes with a 13MP + 2MP rear dual-lens camera along with update Image Signal Processing (ISP) chipset, HDR mode, Phase-detection autofocus and LED flash.
For the connectivity, there is 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB with OTG support, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The handset is backed by a 3000mAh battery and weighs 149 grams.
The 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage Honor 9 Lite variant is priced at Rs. 10,999, while its 4GB RAM/ 64GB variant is priced at Rs. 14,999.
