HTC, Taiwanese smartphone company has launched the new flagship smartphone, dubbed as U12+ which is the successor of previously launched HTC U11+. The company has used touch- screen buttons instead of physical buttons on HTC U12+. Likewise, HTC U11+ and Google Pixel 2, the company offers squeeze feature on the right and left-hand side of U12 Plus. But with an updation, an individual can squeeze short, long and hold on the smartphone.
Each squeeze performs a different task or an activity. With the help of squeezable features, an individual can open an app, open the camera and click a photo and turn on the flashlight and much more. The company has managed to provide thin-bezels on U12 Plus even when the notch is missing on it.
However, the notch on the top is trending these days in the smartphone industry since the launch of Apple iPhone X. Fingerprint scanner is shifted to the rear panel of the smartphone. The smartphone comes with a Translucent Blue color variant which provides you a brief look at what is running in the background. Apart from Translucent Blue color, the HTC U12 Plus is also available in Flame Red or Ceramic Black color options, you can choose as per your convenience. Currently, the company has launched the smartphone specifically in the US (United States).
The HTC U12+ has been priced at $799 roughly (Rs 54,600) for the 6GB RAM+64GB storage variant, whereas 6GB RAM+128GB storage variant costs $849 (around Rs. 58,000). The smartphone is available for pre-bookings via HTC\'s website and supports AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon. It is anticipated that the deliveries of HTC U12+ will begin in the middle of June. The company would soon unveil the Australian and UK prices of HTC U12 Plus. As of now, the company has not revealed the pricing and availability details of the Indian market.
The HTC U12+ bears a 6-inch QHD+ Super LCD 6 display, 18:9 aspect ratio and the screen resolution of 1440 x 2880 pixels. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, paired with 6GB of RAM and 64GB/ 128GB internal storage, which can be further extended up to 2TB by using a memory card.
The HTC U12 Plus comes with quad- cameras which include two on the front and two on the rear panel. The dual rear camera setup features a 12-megapixel wide-angle lens offering HTC UltraPixel 4 sensors with an aperture rate of f/1.75 and a 16-megapixel telephoto sensor with an aperture rate of f/2.6.
The dual rear camera setup comes with several features such as s PDAF (phase detection autofocus), laser focus (combined to be called UltraSpeed Autofocus 2 by the company), and 2x optical zoom as well as 10x digital zoom. Additionally, the smartphone offers OIS, HDR Boost 2, dual-LED flash, and AR sticker support. For the selfie snapper, the smartphone gets a dual 8-megapixel sensors offering an aperture of f/2.0, wide- angle lens and 84-degree lens. It runs latest Android 8.0 Oreo operating system but it is compatible with Android P when it comes later this year.
The connectivity options in HTC U12+ are 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, USB Type-C, and NFC. The fingerprint sensor is positioned on the rear panel of the smartphone. It armed with a 3500mAh battery and dimensions are 156.6x73.9x9.7mm.
