The Chinese Telecommunications equipment company, Huawei goes official with its new Huawei Mate 8 on Thursday at the Shanghai Expo Center in China. Following the predecessor Huawei 7, which was launched last year, Huawei is now proceeding with Mate 8, a stylish phablet featuring the latest- gen Kirin processor, a bunch of fascinating features and Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
The new phablet will come in two variants- 3GB RAM with 32GB storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB storage. The Mate 8 features 6-inch full HD (1080x1920 pixels) resolution IPS LED display with 367.2ppi as calculated pixel density, packed along with a 2.5D Gorilla Glass for protection. On the software side, the smartphone has Android 6.0 marshmallow installed which is skinned with the company's emotion UI. It is a metal-clad dual-SIM supporting smartphone. In terms of camera, the phablet has a 16 megapixel camera at the back powered by Sony IMX298 sensor with OIS, f/2.0 aperture and an 8 MP shooter at its front.
Additionally, it supports a 4000 mAh battery and offers Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Micro-USB 2.0, GPS, DLNA, Bluetooth, NFC and 4G under connectivity options. There is also an i5 core processor and add-ons that supports speech recognition, low-power consumption MP3, sensor hub, fused location provider (FLP) navigation and many more efficient location-based tasks.
Available color options for the phone are- Champagne Gold, Moonlight Silver, Space Gray, and Mocha Brown. The press release announced that the handset is currently available in China. The Mate 8 will be announced for the international availability at CES in January next year.
