The smartphone market of India has shot up very high in the recent times and so as the app market. There are may new companies who are trying to make their market in India and Intex is surely one of them. The company has already a few models in the market and now it is joining hand with a Singapore based IT company to launch a few more. The interesting thing about these upcoming joint venture phones is that they'll be loaded with an app called Nanu meant for free-calling even on 2G networks.
The Singaporean tech giant Gentay Communications Pvt. Ltd. Confirmed it in statement saying “Intex would be launching its two smartphones models, embedded with 'Nanu' software in July.” Mr. Martin Nygate, CEO of Gentay also said that “The free-call Nanu, which subsidizes cost through targeted advertising on ring tones of dialers is designed to operate in 2G areas, opening up to a market of millions of rural folks.” According to the company, the app has already been downloaded by 1.5 Million people in India out of 2.2 Million all over the world.
Mr. Sanjay Sing Kalirona, Head of Mobiles, Intex Technologies (India) Ltd. Said “Smartphones have become an increasingly competitive sector, especially in India where cost performance is vital. You need to provide customers with something more than a gadget.” He further added “We believe that embedding Nanu will not only prove to be a big attraction but will also revolutionize the market. The new phones with Nanu will help Intex further differentiate ourselves from our closest competitors.”
