Indian smartphone maker Lava is constantly launching smartphones in the country to maintain its foothold. In the recent reports the company has again unveiled a new A-series smartphone for its home users. dubbed as the Lava A97. The new Android smartphone has been quoted for a price of Rs 5,949 and is officially listed on the company's website. However, as far as local retailers based sale is concerned, the users might have to wait a little more for that.
From the specifications point of view, the Dual-SIM smartphone features a 5-inch FWVGA TFT display. Having a TFT display, the device provides a resolution of 480x854 pixels which gets compensated from the Android v6.0 Marshmallow OS that the device operates on.
The new Lava A97 smartphone comes with a 5-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and LED flash which also gets supported in the front facing camera of 5-megapixels. Pop the hood and you will find a 1.3GHz quad-core processor paired with a 1GB RAM. The GSM-device further incorporates an 8GB of built-in storage space which the user can easily expand up to 32GB using external microSD card.

The device also provides support to 12 regional languages making conversations a breeze. As per reports, the device is likely to be made available for purchase in three color variants namely Blue, Gold and Grey. Talking about dimensions, the device stands at 145x72x9.2mm carrying a decent weight of 160 grams.
Last but not the least, the Lava A97 in terms of connectivity offers 4G support, but just like other popular smartphones this too allows a user to use the aforementioned service on only one SIM at a time. It supports 4G LTE bands in India - FDD-LTE Band 3 (1800MHz), Band 5, and TDD-LTE Band 40 (2300MHz). Other than 4G, the smartphone also supports VoLTE (voice over LTE) with HD voice call compatibility which nonetheless is a highlight of the handset.
The handset also houses a 2350mAh battery and apart from 4G and VoLTE offers connectivity options like GPRS/ EDGE, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with hotspot functionality, Bluetooth, FM radio, Micro-USB, and GPS.
One must note that just a few days back, Lava unveiled Lava A56 smartphone with a 5-megapixel camera at Rs 4,199. The device despite being the latest gadget to be added to the lineup of Lava products comes with a bit old Android KitKat v4.4 OS powered by a 1.3GHz dual-core processor and 512MB of RAM.
The device equips a decent battery of 1850mAh and incorporates 4GB storage space which can be expanded up to 32GB space using microSD card. The handset offers Bluetooth v2.1, GPRS/EDGE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, and a 3.5mm audio jack on the connectivity front. The Lava A56 measures 147x72.2x9.9mm and will be available in White and Black color variants.
