The Vice President of Lenovo Chang Cheng has confirmed on Weibo Chinese social media website that the company is planning to launch 5G smartphones which would be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor.
If this is to be believed then it would be the first smartphone from Lenovo that supports 5G network bundled with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855. As of now, the president has not announced any deadline for the launch of its first 5G network smartphone.
The new processor is likely to be unveiled either at the end of this year or in the new year 2019 that means first 5G Lenovo smartphone could also be unveiled at the same time.
It looks like that Lenovo will have to compete against the likes of Oppo, Huawei, OnePlus that have already started working upon 5G smartphones. Huawei announced that its first 5G smartphone is likely to be unveiled in the third quarter of 2019.
Earlier this year, Oppo announced its partnership with Qualcomm to introduce smartphones in the coming year. OnePlus, Shenzhen-based Chinese smartphone manufacturer has also reported that its 2019 flagship smartphones would come with the support of 5G connectivity.
