LG is all set to introduce its upcoming G6 flagship smartphone powered by the Snapdragon 635 SoC instead of Snapdragon 835 processor. According to this, we can also assume that the G6 will have a head start compared to the Galaxy S8 smartphone’s availability in the smartphone market.
A website named SemiAccurate has also shared a screenshot of a presentation, which was showcased during a limited media event by LG at CES 2017. The shared image confirms the availability of Snapdragon 821 Soc in the upcoming smartphone along with a water and dust resistant body, a rear fingerprint scanner, and a 5.7-inch QHD display. The leaked image also shows the "LG confidential" line on the top of it.
According to some reports, if LG had gone with the Snapdragon 835 SoC, it would have to wait till late-May or early-June to launch its flagship model. So, the company decided to go with Snapdragon 821 processor and gets a headstart before the Galaxy S8 launch. The report also added that the upcoming Snapdragon 835 chipset has been built on the 10nm FinFET fabrication process by Samsung, so, this means that the company may use a major part of SoC itself.
SemiAccurate also reported that LG will unveil its flagship model later this month whereas the “volume launch worldwide will take place in March”, by which it will get a time period of one month to compare G6 from Samsung’s Galaxy S8, which has been rumored to roll out in the South Korea first in April.
Further highlights of LG G6 is that the handset is also supposed to be the first non-pixel smartphone to feature Google Assistant, dual-rear camera setup, and waterproofing capability with IP68 certification. Moreover, it will be blessed with a metallic unibody design language and will be seen soon in the smartphone market.
