LG, the South- Korean tech giant has showcased a trio of smartphones namely - LG G8 ThinQ, G8s ThinQ and LG V50 ThinQ at an event in MWC 2019 in Barcelona.
AT MWC 2019, LG has neither revealed the price nor the availability details of the flagship smartphone. The LG G8 ThinQ will be available in three color options including Carmine Red, New Aurora Black, and New Moroccan Blue.
The LG G8 ThinQ flaunts a 6.1-inch QHD+ OLED FullVision display that offers 19.5:9 aspect ratio, 564ppi pixels density, and the screen resolution is 1440 x 3120 pixels. Under the hood, it is powered by the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage which can be further extended up to 2TB via microSD card. At the software front, the LG G8 ThinQ runs on Android 9.0 Pie Operating System.
The company has showcased two variants of the LG G8 ThinQ - one having a triple rear camera and other having a dual rear camera. The phones will be launched as per the market demand. The triple camera module has a 12MP primary camera with features like 1.4-micron pixels, 78-degree lens and an aperture of f/1.5. A 16MP secondary sensor featuring a 107-degree super wide-angle lens, an aperture of f/1.9 aperture and a 1-micron pixel sensor. Finally, a third 12-megapixel rear sensor with a 45-degree Finally, a third 12-megapixel rear sensor with a 45-degree telephoto lens, 1-micron pixel sensor and an aperture of f/2.4.
The LG G8 ThinQ dual rear model does not have a telephoto lens with the other two cameras (super wide-angle and primary) and the remaining camera sensors are similar to the triple camera model. For selfies and video calling, there is an 8MP front-facing camera with features like 1.22-micron pixels, aperture of f/1.7,and an 80-degree lens. In addition, the phone has a ToF Z camera, which comes with infrared sensors enabled for Hand ID palm vein authentication. For the security purpose, the smartphone gets rear-mounted fingerprint scanner as well as the facial-unlock feature.
The LG G8 ThinQ supports 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v5.0, NFC, FM radio, and USB Type-C (v3.1) as connectivity options. It packs a 3,500mAh battery along with Quick Charge 3.0 technology for fast charging. The dimensions of the smartphone are 151.9x71.8x8.4mm and weight is 167 grams. The smartphone is equipped with a 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC technology to offer a good sound system to the user.

For the photography purpose, the LG G8s ThinQ has triple sensors on the rear panel including a 12MP primary sensor, a 13MP wide- angle sensor and a 12MP telephoto lens. Up front, there is an 8MP selfie snapper along with ToF Z Camera, with supporting features like Air Motion, the Hand ID and Face Unlock features. It packs a 3,550mAh battery.
Alongside, the LG G8 ThinQ and LG G8s ThinQ, the company has also launched the LG V50 ThinQ first 5G ready smartphone.
The price of the LG V50 ThinQ is yet to be disclosed and it is being speculated that it will hit in the market later this year in selected markets including the US, South Korea, Australia and few of the European markets. It is not confirmed when LG would unveil the V50 ThinQ in India.
The LG V50 ThinQ first 5G- enabled smartphone comes with a 6.4-inch QHD OLED FullVision display that offers 1440 x 3120 pixels resolution, 19.5:9 aspect ratio, 538ppi pixel density, and HDR10 support. It runs on Android 9 Pie Operating System OS). Under the hood, it is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage that can be further extended up to 2TB by using a mircoSD card.
For the photography department, the LG V50 ThinQ comes with a triple rear camera set up including a16MP super wide-angle lens featuring an aperture of F1.9, a 12MP standard lens featuring an aperture of F1.5 and a 12MP telephoto lens featuring an aperture of F2.2.

Up front, there is a dual sensor consisting of an 8MP standard lens and a 5MP wide angle lens. It has been equipped with a 4,000 mAh battery along with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 technology. It measures and weighs 159.10x76.10x8.30 mm and 183 grams respectively.
Interestingly, the LG V50 ThinQ comes with a detachable dual- screen secondary display that flaunts a 6.2-inch Full HD+ Full Vision OLED panel along with 2160 x 1080 pixels resolution.
The LG V50 ThinQ supports dual SIM (Nano + Nano) Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, a USB Type-C port for charging/ transferring data and 3G, 4G LTE-A as well as 5G5G VoLTE for the connectivity purpose. The dual screen can be attached independently via three pogo pin connectors wherein the users can do various activities like watching movies on a screen while checking movie’s IMDB rating simultaneously on the second screen.
The first 5G enabled smartphone is being certified with IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. It comes with MIL-STD 810 military grade protection. The LG V50 ThinQ gets BoomBox stereo speakers coupled with 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC and DTS:X 3D surround sound support technology that offers a good sound system to the users.
