OnePlus 3 With 6GB RAM Launched in India

After an eternal wait of months, Chinese manufacturer OnePlus has finally launched its most awaited OnePlus 3 smartphone in India priced at INR 27,999. The smartphone, in reality, is scheduled to get available for Indian buyers from 12:30am via Amazon India, but it's also available with a 'lightning deal'.

Since the company has completely abstained itself from using the invite-based system, so it is expected that only certain number of units would be made available for purchase at the launch time. The latest smartphone unveiled by OnePlus has been priced differently in different regions like in U.S, the device has been priced at $399 (roughly Rs. 26,800), while in Canada its price stands at CAD 519 (approx. Rs. 26,300). In U.K the device comes for GBP 309 (roughly Rs. 29,500) while Hong Kong users can purchase the product for HKD 3,098 (roughly Rs. 26,900). U.S and Europe folks are at an advantage since they can see the availability of OnePlus 3 via the OnePlus site from Tuesday itself.

Additionally, the enthusiastic users who watched the launching on the VR app were able to purchase the Android smartphone even before it got available in their country since after viewing the various demonstrations in the app users were sent an official link via email to let them complete their order properly.

The company is unveiling the Dual-SIM smartphone in two colors out of which Graphite would be readily made available while Soft Gold variant will be made available at a later date. The highlight of the smartphone is the presence of Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC (two cores clocked at 2.2GHz, and two cores clocked at 1.6GHz) with Adreno 530 GPU onboard, along with 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM. The product also stands in direct competition with Xiaomi's recent product i.e., Xiaomi Mi 5 that got unveiled for INR 24,999.

The GSM-based handset features a metal unibody design using 'space-grade aluminium alloy', and is 7.35mm thick. It operates on OxygenOS based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow sporting a 5.5-inch display that gives a full-HD resolution with a pixel density of 401ppi. The device bears an Optic AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass 4 protection for extra safety and comes with USB 2.0 Type-C port. The device also equips a home button having a fingerprint sensor, a 3.5mm headphone additionally supported by the presence of capacitive hardware keys and the Alert Slider.

In terms of camera specs, the handset offers a 16-megapixel rear camera with a Sony IMX298 sensor, a f/2.0 aperture, OIS, and EIS, and PDAF autofocus, apart from RAW image support, 4K video recording support, and a Smile Capture mode. The front camera on the other hand sports a Sony IMX179 sensor, a f/2.0 aperture on the fixed focus lens with EIS support. The camera also enables the user to record HD videos. Though the OnePlus 3 gives 64GB of inbuilt storage which is pretty good from the user point of view, but it has a constraint of non-expansion i.e., it can not be expanded.

Indian buyers also get a free 12-month subscription to Saavn Pro, and can also make use of 'double data' offer from Idea Cellular for one complete year along with the accidental damage covered under the 'OnePlus Care app' powered by Servify. It is powered by a non-removable 3000mAh battery, and the company is bundling a Dash Charge adapter alongside, which uses the company's fast charging technology to charge the battery up to 60 percent in 30 minutes.

Lastly, the device comes with 4G LTE Cat. 6 connectivity with support for India's LTE bands. Other connectivity options included on the handset are Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC (unlike the OnePlus 2), and GPS/ A-GPS. Dimensionally, the OnePlus 3 measures 152.7x74.7x7.35mm and carries a weight of 158 grams.
