OnePlus 5 is just a week away from its launching, and the leading Chinese manufacturer is putting all the efforts to keep the hype going for the smartphone with the help of releasing teasers on social media. However, considering all the leaks and rumours, we already know what to expect with the upcoming flagship model of the company. OnePlus has fixed the global launching of the smartphone for June 20 and has also scheduled a separate launching event for India on June 22, 2017. The highlighting feature of the new smartphone is believed to be its Dual-rear camera setup, which makes it completely look like the Apple iPhone 7 Plus smartphone. Additional noticeable features on the board of the new arrival are said to be the Snapdragon 835 SoC and a massive 8GB of RAM.
Concerning about price, the 6GB RAM/64GB storage variant of OnePlus 5 is supposed to be available priced at Rs 32,999, while the 8GB RAM/128GB storage variant of the smartphone is said to arrive with a price tag of Rs 37,999. If these come out as the real prices of the smartphone, the OnePlus 5 will be the most expensive smartphone of the company till now. Similarly, a previous leak also suggested European prices of the smartphone, which is likely to be EUR 550 (Rs. 39,990 approx). As a recall, the OnePlus 3T was introduced last year in India with a price tag of Rs 29,999 for the 64GB variant, and Rs. 34,999 for the 128GB variant. In terms of availability, Amazon has already reported that the OnePlus 5 will be exclusive to the e-commerce website, and will be available from the same day of launching.
Coming next to design, the looks a lot like iPhone 7 Plus from the rear side along with the dual rear camera setup to boot. It is also said to be the “Slimmest flagship smartphone” till now from the company. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau on the Chinese website Weibo teased that the OnePlus 5 will be the slimmest flagship smartphone, still, it is unclear whether he meant to say the slimmest smartphone among all the flagship smartphones out there or the slimmest smartphone among the OnePlus flagships.
Moving on to the specifications, the OnePlus 5 flagship Android smartphone is confirmed to be powered by the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor along with clock speed of 2.35GHz. OnePlus in collaboration with Qualcomm stated that OnePlus 5 will be the first smartphone to come with Snapdragon 835 processor in the country, which has been proved to be false as Sony has recently introduced its Xperia XZ Premium smartphone coupled with Snapdragon 835 processor in India.
As it has been already mentioned above, OnePlus 5 is believed to be introduced in two memory variants which include a 6GB RAM/64GB storage variant and an 8GB RAM/128GB storage variant. The smartphone will be seen running Android 7.0 Nougat OS and will be blessed with a 23-megapixel rear camera along with a 16-megapixel front shooter for shooting selfies. As we already know that the device will feature a dual camera setup at the back, it is still a mystery how does 23-megapixel sensor fit in the scheme. Additional rumoured OnePlus 5 specifications include a front facing fingerprint sensor and a camera developed in partnership with DxO.
