Much Awaited OnePlus 7 Pro officially Launched; all set to go on sale

The most rumoured and awaited smartphone OnePlus 7 Pro has been officially launched on 14th May 2019. The events were held in Bengaluru, New York, and London. The smartphone is the flagship of the company for this year and comes under the OnePlus 7 series. The company has made changes but to the minimum in the OnePlus 7 Pro. The company is using the QHD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate for the very first time with a larger battery capacity i.e. 4,000mAh as well as up to 12GB RAM. It is the first One Plus smartphone to carry a pop-up front camera. It will be available in three color options- Nebula Blue, Mirror Grey, and Almond. For more details read below.

OnePlus 7 Pro: price, sale date, and Launch offers

Price

The company has priced the 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage OnePlus 7 Pro at INR 48,999 which will come only in Mirror Grey color option and the 8GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard memory comes with a price tag of INR 52,999 with all color options. The top-spec variant with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal memory comes at INR 57,999 with only Nebula Blue color option.

Sale Date

The Mirror Grey color variant will be available from 17th May and can be grabbed from OnePlus online stores, OnePlus offline stores, Amazon India, and partner stores. While the Nebula color variant will be made available from 28th May. The Almond color variant will go sometime in June.

While there is an advantage for the Amazon Prime customers as the smartphone will be made available a day earlier on 16th May in a ‘Prime Early Access’ sale and the ‘OnePlus Early Bird’ sale. Customers can buy the smartphone earlier at ‘OnePlus Pop-Ups’ in the cities including Pune, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad on 15th May. And ‘a month-long Experience Pop-Up’ will be held from 17th May to 16th June in Delhi.

Specifications

The OnePlus 7 Pro flaunts a 6.67-inch Fluid AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 1440 x 3120 pixels, an aspect ratio of 19.5:9, a pixel density of 516ppi, a refresh rate of 90Hz and for the very first time Quad-HD+ resolution. The smartphone gets support for the sRGB and DCI-P3 colour gamuts. The company has also added a Night Mode 2.0 which delivers the lowest brightness setting of 0.27 nits. The smartphone’s display gets the protection from the Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and the company said that it got A+ rating from the DisplayMate.

Under the hood, the OnePlus 7 Pro gets the power from the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC, mated with the Adreno 640 GPU and up to 12GB of LPDDR4x RAM. the company also said that the smartphone will get security updates for 3 years and software updates for 3 years.

Camera

In the imaging department, the OnePlus 7 Pro flaunts triple camera setup at the back which includes a primary 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor camera, with 1.6-micron pixels (4-in-1), optical image stabilisation (OIS), f/1.6 aperture, and electronic image stabilisation (EIS). A 16-megapixel sensor is a secondary camera with an f/2.4 aperture along with an ultra wide-angle lens with a 117-degree field of view. The third camera is the 8-megapixel camera with a telephoto lens capable of 3x optical zoom, 1-micron pixels, an f/2.4 aperture, and OIS.

The back camera comes loaded with features like a dual-LED flash module along with the support of laser autofocus (LAF), phase detection autofocus (PDAF), and contrast autofocus (CAF). In terms of the recording, the back camera can record 4K video at up to 60fps, 1080p video at up to 240fps, and 720p video at up to 480fps, while the last two are the Super Slow Motion modes. Features like Portrait, Nightscape, UltraShot, AI Scene Detection, Pro Mode, HDR, Panorama, Time-Lapse, Studio Lighting, and RAW Image are also included. The company claimed during the launch that the smartphone got an overall DxoMark score of 111.

At the front, the company for the very first time is using the trending pop-up selfie camera which flaunts a 16-megapixel Sony IMX471 sensor with an f/2.0 aperture, 1-micron pixels, and EIS. The features include HDR, Face Retouching, Screen Flash, and Time-Lapse. The company claims that the mechanism of pop-up has been tested for more than 300,000 times and if the customer uses the camera 150 times a day then the camera will work for more than five years. The company further added that to protect the front camera the smartphone will automatically bring the pop-up camera down in a "fraction of a second" if the smartphone feels that it is falling and this is done with the help of the accelerometer and gyroscope sensors.

Storage

The OnePlus 7 Pro comes in two storage variants which include 128GB and 256GB UFS 3.0 2-lane of internal storage. As per the company, the OnePlus 7 Pro is the first smartphone across the world which is using this latest faster storage standard. While the former OnePlus smartphone has no storage expansion option through the microSD card slot.

Features

The OnePlus 7 Pro runs on the latest Android 9.0 Pie which is based on OxygenOS. The company has added features like native Screen Recording and a Zen Mode due to which the smartphone can be used for 20 minutes but only allowing the use of cameras and emergency calls. In terms of the connectivity options, the smartphone includes- G VoLTE, Bluetooth v5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C (v3.1 Gen 1) port due to which the headphone port becomes double.

The dual-SIM OnePlus 7 Pro comes with an under-display fingerprint scanner for security which is claimed to be faster than the OnePlus 6T and this is possible because of the 3-element lens and a larger sensor, along with using the new algorithm. The smartphone comes with a larger capacity of 4,000mAh battery along with the Warp Charge 30 fast charging (5V/ 6A) which is claimed to be 38 percent faster than former smartphones. This charger was first added with the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition. In terms of the Sensors, the phone includes an ambient light sensor, accelerometer, magnetometer, gyroscope, and a proximity sensor.

The company added features in the smartphone like the new X-haptic vibration motor along with its dual stereo speakers (on the top and bottom of the smartphone), noise cancellation support, and Dolby Atmos support. Same like the previous generation, the OnePlus 7 Pro also comes with the iconic Alert Slider. The smartphone measures 162.6 x 75.9 x 8.8mm and weighs 206 grams. Same like the display, the back panel also comes with Gorilla Glass 5. The company also added a 10-layer liquid cooling system in the OnePlus 7 Pro.
