Philips has added a two new smartphones under its existing series of Sapphire. Under this growing mid-range series, the company has introduced the smartphones dubbed as Sapphire S616 and the Sapphire Life V787 in China.
The biggest USP of the device is ‘SoftBlue’ technology, which has been used by Philips. SoftBlue technology said to reduce the blue light coming from the display by up to 86 percent. This is in turn greatly helps to reduce eye fatigue that most electronic displays today are credited with.
The Philips Sapphire S616 is said to feature a 5.5-inch full HD display with a resolution of 1080*1920 pixel screen and is powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT 6753 SoC clocked at 1.3GHz and a Mali-T720 GPU. The device is coupled with 2GB of RAM and have the native storage of 16GB which is further expandable via microSD card slot expansion.
On the camera front, the Sapphire S616 sports a 13 megapixel camera at the rear end with an aperture of f/2.0 and a 5 megapixel wide angle selfie snapper on the board. For the connectivity support, the device includes Android 5.1, WiFi b/g/n/ac, A-GPS, Bluetooth 4.1 and 4G LTE.
The dual SIM capable handset, at the software side carries an Android 5.1 Lollipop with company’s home grown user interface on top and is backed by 3000mAh battery. The smartphone is priced at an equivalent of $222 (roughly Rs. 14,600) and is expected to go on sale in November.
On the other hand, Philips Sapphire life V787 sports a 5-inch full HD display, which is having a resolution of 1080*1920 pixels with a pixel density of 441ppi. The device also bears the same processor and RAM as the Sapphire S616. But the device offers a larger battery of 5000mAh that uses the company’s Xenium technology.
The device is loaded with the 13 megapixel rear camera with the phase detection autofocus. Its retail price is still unknown, but it is expected that the smartphone will hit the China’s ground by the end of the November.
