Pre-bookings of Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ Microsoft Edition Begins in the US

Microsoft, an American based multinational company has recently started selling its own customized edition of Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ flagship smartphones, which are now available for the pre-bookings via offline and online retail outlets in the US.

The ‘Microsoft Edition’ of Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will allow users to access several Microsoft Apps such as Excel, Cortana, PowerPoint, Skype, Word, and it is based on Microsoft Launcher. In terms of pricing, Microsoft edition of Samsung flagship smartphones will be available in similar price as of standard versions - $719.99 for Galaxy 9, and $839.99 for Galaxy S9+ (both unlocked).

Buyers, who are interested in purchasing Microsoft Edition can pre-book the smartphone but the shipments will start from 16th March 2018. Microsoft reported on its official website that Microsoft Edition is available in limited quantities.

According to Microsoft official, “The phones look the same as the standard version at first glance and the hardware is exactly the same. The Operating System (OS) will be the same too. It’s the apps that are different.” He further added that the Microsoft Edition smartphone will not come with pre-installed apps. “ Microsoft customization is applied to the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ ‘Microsoft Edition’ when the devices are unboxed and connected to Wi-Fi.”

Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ Specifications

Both Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ smartphones were launched in India in the previous week. Both of them are embedded with an Exynos 9810 SoC processor in India. It runs on latest operating system i.e.,s Android 8.0 Oreo and certified with IP68 water and dust resistance. The flagship smartphone comes with a Gigabit LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, USB Type-C, Bluetooth 5.0, and a 3.5mm headphone jack as a connectivity option. The storage capacity can be further extended up to 400GB, as both of the smartphones supports memory card.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 boasts a 5.8-inch QHD+ Curved Super AMOLED display along with 18.5:9 aspect ratio whereas Samsung Galaxy S9+ features a 6.2-inch QHD+ curved Super AMOLED Infinity Display along with 18:9 aspect ratio. Galaxy S9 has a 4GB of RAM and Galaxy S9+ comes with a 6GB of RAM. Both of the smartphones are available in three storage options: 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB.

In terms of optics, Samsung Galaxy S9 comes with a single 12-megapixel Dual-Pixel rear camera whereas Galaxy S9+ sport a dual- rear camera setup which includes 12-megapixel and 13-megapixel sensors. At the front, both the smartphones have an 8-megapixel selfie camera along with an aperture of a f/1.7 sensor. Both, Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ packs a 3,000mAh battery and 3,500mAh battery respectively.
