Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer is hosting an event in New Delhi on 7th June, where the company is all set to launch the Redmi Y2 as Redmi S2 in India. The previous reports suggested that Redmi Y2 is a remodified name of Redmi S2 that was launched in China in last month. The leaks and rumors regarding the specifications and price of Redmi S2 started appearing on the internet ahead of official launch.
Instead of offering the new smartphones in the Indian market, Xiaomi is planning to launch the Redmi Y2 as Redmi S2 in the Indian market. Notably, the Redmi Y2 is the successor of Redmi Y1 that was launched in India in November 2017. The company claims that Redmi Y2 is a selfie-centric smartphone that features 16- megapixel selfie-shooter offering an LED flash, AI features, Auto HDR, AI portrait selfie, and a Beautify mode.
The Redmi Y2 has a metallic unibody design and features a larger 5.99-inch Full HD+ display, trending 18:9 aspect ratio and a screen resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels.At the top, it gets a 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass protects the gadget from damaging and breaking. The smartphone has an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC processor clocked at 2.0 GHz. The smartphone is available in two storage variants: 3GB RAM + 32GB internal storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB internal storage. In terms of software, it gets an Android Oreo-based on MIUI 9.5.
In terms of optics, the Redmi Y2 features dual rear cameras with the combination of 12- megapixel primary and 5- megapixel secondary camera. For the selfie snapper, the smartphone sport a 16- megapixel front-facing camera offering wide-angle lens and an LED flash. The selfie camera is integrated with Beautify 3.0 mode which helps to capture impressive selfies by adjusting the setting options available on the smartphone. Under the hood, it is powered by 3,080 mAh battery which the company claims can run the smartphone for a whole day on a single charge.
The connectivity options on the Redmi Y2 are micro USB, Bluetooth 4.2, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, Wi-Fi, GPS.
The selfie- centric Redmi Y2 is now available for purchase on Amazon.in and Mi.com in the form of the flash sale starting at 2 PM IST 11th July 2018 (today). In today\'s flash sale, the budget segment Xiaomi Redmi Y2 is available in two variants i.e., 3GB RAM+32GB onboard storage and 4GB RAM+64GB onboard storage which have been priced at Rs 9,999 and Rs 12,999 respectively.
Xiaomi offered the Redmi Y2 in three color options include Rose Gold, Gold and Dark Grey. Alongside the Redmi Y2, Xiaomi Mi TV 4 and Mi TV 4A will also be available in the sale which starts at 12 PM 11th July 2018 (today) IST on online platforms include Mi.com and Flipkart. It must be noted that the Xiaomi\'s Mi 4th Anniversary sale is also running on Mi.com in between 10th July 2018 to 12th July 2018.
