The initial response to Samsung’s flagship offering, the Galaxy S8, was slow. Experts attributed the high price tag for the initial cold response. However, more than a year after the launch of the premium offering from the South Korean giant, market pundits have been left red-faced. Thrilled by the growing sales figure for the Galaxy S8, Samsung India has announced the launch of Burgundy Red Galaxy S8 smartphone. The flagship phone was available in Maple Gold and Midnight Black color variants at the time of launch. It was followed by an Orchid Grey color variant in July 2017.
The decision comes just a month since the launch of the latest flagship offerings, Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+, from the premium smartphone maker. This a strong indication of the market’s response to the Galaxy S8 as well as raises concern over the response showered on Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 is credited for bringing in new design philosophy into the premium S series phones. The S8 is powered by the Samsung Exynos 8895 SoC and runs on Android 8.0 Oreo. It boasts of a 5.8-inch QHD+ (1440x2960 pixels) Super AMOLED Infinity Display. The Corning Gorilla Glass 5 ensures damage resistance, optical clarity and touch sensitivity to the dual-edge curved display. The smartphone comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage that\'s expandable via microSD card (up to 256GB). The hybrid dual-SIM configuration limits user choice and offers the option to use one of the two slots either as a sim slot or a memory slot.
The Burgundy Red variant of the S8 will borrow camera features from its predecessors. The 12-megapixel \'Dual Pixel\' rear camera comes equipped with optical image stabilization and a f/1.7 aperture for low lights. The 8-megapixel front camera features autofocus and f/1.7 aperture for that perfect selfie even in low lights. Under the hood, the premium phone is powered by a 3000mAh battery and supports wireless as well as fast charging.
