In term of specifications, both of the Android smartphones are powered by the Samsung Exynos 8895 SoC (a quad-core module clocked at 2.35GHz, and another quad-core module clocked at 1.9GHz) coupled with 4GB of RAM, so you must not expect any Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor variants in India. Both of the Dual-SIM handsets looks similar to each other, the only things which make them different are battery capacity, dimensions, and screen size of the Infinity Display, which is a dual-edge curved display with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio coupled with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The Galaxy S8 features a 5.8-inch QHD Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1440 x 2960 pixels, whereas the Galaxy S8+ packs a 6.2-inch display with same resolution and displaying technology to its younger sibling. Both of the displays are certified by the UHD Alliance as Mobile HDR Premium.
The optical part of the GSM handsets includes a 12-megapixel ‘Dual-Pixel’ real camera along with optical image stabilisation and a f/1.7 aperture. An 8-megapixel front camera has been given for both the handsets with autofocus and a f/1.7 aperture. Both the flagship models pack 64GB of inbuilt memory space, which can be expanded up to 256GB via microSD card in a hybrid dual-SIM configuration.
Connectivity options on the boards of both the handset include, 4G LTE (Cat. 16), Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4GHz, 5GHz), Bluetooth v5.0, USB Type-C, NFC, and GPS. Sensors on both the devices include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, barometer, gyroscope, heart rate sensor, magnetometer, and proximity sensor. Additional features in both the smartphones include Samsung Pay (with NFC and MST connectivity), an iris scanner, fingerprint scanner, and facial recognition.
Both of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ smartphones are also blessed with wireless charging as well as fast charging facility. The Galaxy S8 is backed up by a 3000mAh battery, while the Galaxy S8+ is backed up by a larger 3500mAh battery. One of the biggest highlights of both the smartphone is the Bixby virtual assistant, in which Bixby Voice functionality will not be available initially but it will offer other functionalities like Bixby Vision, Home, and Reminder features.
