Sirin Solarin: Privacy Focussed Smartphone For INR 9 Lakhs

Privacy is a major concern nowadays in the era of smartphone markets. The smartphone companies have been trying to overcome this problem. The London-based startup has launched its first privacy-focussed smartphone.

With this launching a question is arising, How much do you value your privacy for the smartphone? Now doubt, the smartphone is very best. But the peoples are unhappy with this too much expensive deal. With this new phone, the company is targeted a premium segment. The smartphone is priced at GBP 9,500 (roughly $14,000 or Rs. 9 Lakh) before taxes, the Sirin Solarin is now available online.

Some of the reports claim that the Solarin to be the world's most expensive Android smartphone. It is featuring precious metal bodies embedded with gems. At the launching event, the company says that the smartphone will be available in different variants including Fire Black Carbon Leather with Titanium; Fire Black Carbon Leather with Diamond-like Carbon; Fire Black Carbon Leather with Yellow Gold, and Crystal White Carbon Leather with Diamond-like Carbon. However, the company has not revealed the pricing details for the different variants of Solarin smartphone.

The company also claimed that Solarin is made up of over 2,500 inner components and has been developed after two years of R&D centers in Sweden and Tel Aviv.

For the privacy, the Solarin will pack mobile threat protection app from security expert Zimperium. The company partnered with KoolSpan to integrate chip-to-chip 256-bit AES encryption. The device sports a Security Switch on the back that when flipped activates a shielded mode where users can make calls and send messages that are fully encrypted.

The company used a metal matrix chassis for the Solarin that incorporates a titanium panels for strength. For the protection, the device is layered with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 to protect the curved display. The rear panel sports the leather material.

Now moving towards the major specifications, the Solarin features a 5.5-inch IPS LED display with a 2K (1440*2560 pixels) resolution. It is fueled by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor and sports 4G LTE offering up to 450Mbps download speeds and up to 150Mbps upload speeds. The device has the capability to support for 24 bands LTE compatibility.

On the camera section, the privacy-focussed GSM smartphone is loaded with a 23.8-megapixel camera at the rear end along with an 8-megapixel front facing camera. For the connectivity, the Solarin includes Wi-Fi 802.11ac.

Commenting on the launch, Moshe Hogeg, President, and Co-founder, Sirin Labs said, "We do not accept that price drives what's available in technology. With Solarin, we break the rules."

The device has the inbuilt storage of 128GB and packs with 4GB of RAM. The smartphone is backed by a 4040mAh battery on board. The battery is enhanced with the latest Qualcomm Quick Charge technology for fast charging. The device is very heavy and it weighs about 250 grams.
