Vivo launched the Vivo X27 and X27 Pro smartphones on 19 March. And during the launch, it was also rumoured that the first smartphone of ‘S series’ dubbed as Vivo S1 will also be disclosed. But it did not happen. The handset carry a model number Vivo 1831A/T. So now, the Vivo S1 has been seen on the official website of Vivo China.
The smartphone is ready to take the pre-bookings and will be made available for purchase from 1 April 2019.
The first smartphone of the ‘S series’ will go on sale in the Chinese markets on 1 April 2019. It will come in two color options- Blue and Pink. The Vivo S1 will carry a price sticker of 2,298 Yuan i.e. around Rs 23,570 in terms of the Indian Currency.

The Vivo S1 flaunts a 6.53-inch IPS LCD panel full HD+ with screen resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and there is no notch. The company claims that the Vivo S1 comes with 90.95 percent screen to body ratio and has an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. Under the hood, the smartphone carries a MediaTek Helio P70 processor along with Game Turbo for enhanced gaming experience.
The Vivo S1 weighs 189.5 grams and measures 161.97 x 75.93 x 8.54mm. It comes with a fingerprint scanner at the back for security. In terms of the connectivity, the smartphone includes dual-SIM support, 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth, microUSB 2.0, GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, and 3.5mm audio jack. It runs on latest Android 9 Pie along with the FunTouch OS 9.
The handset packs a capacity of 3,940mAh battery along with dual-engine flash 18W rapid charging support. The smartphone also comes with an independent AI button for the Jovi voice assistant.
The Vivo S1 comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage which can further be expanded via a microSD card slot.
In terms of the optics, the Vivo S1 at the back carries triple camera setup which includes 12-megapixel main sensor with an f/1.7 aperture, 8-megapixel wide-angle lens with an f/2.2 aperture, and 5-megapixel depth sensor with an f/2.4 aperture. At the front, the smartphone flaunts a pop-up camera with a 24.8-megapixel sensor for selfies and video calling.
The smartphone also features AI for best quality pictures and can identify 103 basic facial features for capturing selfie shots. There is also a Body Camera feature onboard which can adjust the body proportions automatically while shooting photos and videos.
The Vivo S1 is a rebranded edition variant of the Vivo V15 device for China. Both the smartphones has the same specifications expect for some dissimilarities in terms of the optics. The Vivo V15 flaunts 32MP of selfie camera while the Vivo S1 carries 24.8MP of front camera. Even the triple rear camera setup of the V15 has 24MP primary sensor while the S1 has 12MP camera.
