A few days ago, MediaTek which is a fabless semiconductor company debuted latest software update, dubbed as Helio P22. The newly introduced Helio P22 Chipset comes with artificial intelligence (AI) enhancements, dual-rear cameras supports 4G VoLTE on both sim cards and 12nm SoC at a reasonable price. Now, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has launched the Vivo Y83 in its home country, China that comes with a MediaTek Helio P22 SoC and it is the first smartphone featuring the latest processor from MediaTek. The budget segment smartphone comes with a notch on the top of the display similar to Apple iPhone X.
The smartphone comes with a metallic body design but the rear panel has mirror finish which was attained by using a new high-gloss coating technology.
The Vivo Y83 is powered by a latest MediaTek Helio P22 chipset, clocked at 2.0GHz, and eight Cortex A53 cores. The new Helio P22 chipset is bundled with NeuroPilot Artificial Intelligence (AI) features which supports TensorFlow, TF Lite, Caffe, and Caffe2. The smartphone is equipped with 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage that can be further extended up to 256GB with the help of a memory card. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo-based on FunTouch OS 4.0. The smartphone comes with Facial Recognition feature and the fingerprint sensor is missing on it.
In terms of optics, the Vivo Y83 gets a single 13MP rear camera with an aperture of f/2.2 and an LED flash. For the selfie snapper, the smartphone sport an 8MP selfie-camera which is bundled with artificial intelligence and face recognition features. The front camera comes with features such as AI Makeup and customized beauty effects which enable users to capture beautiful selfies. The quite interesting part is that smartphone has a separate slot for memory card along with two different sim card slot. Under the hood, it is powered by a 3,260mAh battery.
The Vivo Y83 is available at RMB 1,498 which translates into Rs 16,000 and the company is offering a free protective case as well as a pair of earphones on the purchase of the smartphone. The Vivo Y83m budget segment smartphone is available for purchase particularly in the China market in three color options:- Aurora White, Polar Black, and Red. Currently, the company has not announced that whether Vivo Y83 would unveil in other countries or not.
Vivo Y83 has been launched by the Chinese smartphone manufacturer silently in India within a week after the China launch. Information regarding the launch of Vivo Y83 in India has been shared by Mumbai- based mobile phone retailer Mahesh Telecom on Twitter which reveals that Vivo Y83 is now available for purchase in India via offline stores at a market operating price (MOP) of Rs 14,990 for 4GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. It is worth noting that 64GB inbuilt storage variant has been priced at CNY 1,498 (approximately Rs 15,800) only in the China market. However, the company itself has not made the official announcement of Vivo 83 launch in India, so we have to wait for the official launch
