Xiaomi has launched a trio of smartphones - Xiaomi Mi 9, Mi 9 Transparent Edition and Mi 9 SE at an event in Beijing, China on February 20, 2019. It looks like the Chinese smartphone manufacturer would unveil new flagship devices globally at the company’s Mobile World Congress 2019 event in Barcelona on February 24. The Xiaomi Mi 9 would compete against the likes of Apple iPhone XS and Samsung Galaxy S10.
In China, the flagship Xiaomi Mi 9 comes with a starting price at CNY 2,999 (approximately Rs 31,800) for the 6GB RAM variant and128GB internal storage. While the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage model costs RMB 3,299 (around Rs 35,000).
The Xiaomi Mi 9 Transparent Edition has been priced at CNY 3,999 (approximately Rs. 42,300).
The Xiaomi Mi 9 SE comes with a starting price of CNY 1,999 (roughly Rs. 21,200) for the 64GB storage variant and goes up to CNY 2,299 (roughly Rs. 24,350) for the 128GB storage model.
Xiaomi Mi 9 SE will go on sale from March 1, 2019, and the sale will start at 10 am (CST). However, the Mi 9 and Mi 9 Transparent Edition will be available for purchase from February 26, 2019, at 10:00 AM (CST).
Xiaomi Mi 9 is equipped with flagship specifications and it is ready to join the hands with other flagships like Pixel 3, Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and the OnePlus 6T. Mi 9 is the first device from Xiaomi that has been equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC and fabricated on a 7nm process that means it is more powerful and efficient than its predecessor.
The flagship Xiaomi Mi 9 gets a dedicated AI button that would allow users to switch on Google Assistant. Apart from a dedicated AI button, the Xiaomi Mi 9 comes with flagship specifications like multi-functional NFC chip, Always-On color display, and a Smart Antenna feature.
The smartphone also features dual-frequency GPS connectivity through an independent L5 antenna facilitating in-depth on-device navigation. Also, the smartphone has an IR blaster making it operate several other devices.
The company claims that the Mi 9 is a 40 percent slimmer than the Mi 8. On-screen ambient light sensor and an ultrasonic proximity sensor is available on the device. The device is preloaded with features such as screen dimming optimization, reading mode 2.0, high brightness mode, Sunlight mode 2.0, Moon Mode especially for TikTok users.

The company is touting that the camera of the device has received an overall score of 107 from DxOMark team. The Xiaomi Mi 9 comes with a fifth-generation in-display fingerprint sensor that claims to be 25 percent efficient than the predecessor
The design language of Mi 9 is inspired by Huawei P20 Pro as both of the devices looks similar. The Xiaomi Mi 9 boasts a 6.39-inch full-HD+ Samsung AMOLED display along with water- drop shaped display notch, 600 nits of brightness. For the security purpose, it has a Corning Gorilla Glass 6 on the top which protects the device from scratches and damages. Under the hood, it is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC paired with Adreno 640 GPU for the gaming purpose. For storage, the device gets 6GB/8GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage.
The Xiaomi Mi 9 is the first device that comes with a triple rear camera which includes 48MP primary camera, 12MP telephoto lens and 16MP wide- angle lens. For selfies and video calling, the device gets a 24MP front-facing camera.
The Xiaomi Mi 9 comes with a host of connectivity options such as 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, IR blaster, a USB Type-C port as well as supports dual- sim (Nano).
The flagship Xiaomi Mi 9 is armed with a 3,300mAh battery that is accompanied by a 27 Watt charger. It also supports wireless charger of up to 20W.
Now moving to the Xiaomi Mi 9 Transparent Edition, it has similar features to the standard Mi 9. The major changes difference is that the Mi 9 Transparent Edition gets a 12GB of RAM, seven-piece lens with an f/1.47 aperture on the primary sensor, and features a transparent back panel.
The Mi 9 SE has a 5.97-inch Samsung AMOLED display panel. Under the hood, it is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 SoC, paired with Adreno 616 GPU and 6GB RAM.
