Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone manufacturing firm on Thursday launched its much-awaited smartphone in India dubbed as Redmi Note 3. It is the first launch of the smartphone outside of China. Notably, the company has introduced a new Qualcomm-based variant for the country separately, from the MediaTek-based handset that was launched in China in November last year.

The company has also announced that it is the first smartphone in the country to introduce the Qualcomm's variant. The handset will be available in different color variants including Dark Grey, Champagne Gold, and Silver color variants. The company also revealed that it is the third smartphone in the country under the Make in India initiative.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 will be available in two variants on the basis of RAM and storage versions. The first variant is including 2GB of RAM and 16GB of native storage while its other variant includes 3GB of RAM and 32GB of inbuilt storage. The 2GB variant is priced at Rs. 9,999 and a 3GB variant is priced at Rs. 11,999. The newly launched GSM mobile will be available on March 7 via Mi.com, and Amazon.in. It has also announced that the Redmi Note 3 will go on sale on Snapdeal and Flipkart later.
The smartphone features an all-metal body and also packs with a fingerprint scanner at the back. Xiomi revealed that the users can store up to 5-fingerprints profiles.
As for the specifications, the new Redmi Note 3 is featuring a 5.5-inch full HD IPS display having a resolution of 1080*1920 pixels and offers a 178-degree viewing angle. The dual SIM based (Micro+Nano) smartphone packs with a hexacore Snapdragon 650 processor. The device runs MIUI 7 based on Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system out of the box.
At the photography section, the Android handset incorporates 16-megapixel camera at the rear end with Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF) and two-tone flashlight. It also houses a 5-megapixel front facing camera for the selfie enthusiasts. It is measuring a 150x76x8.65mm and weighs 164 grams.
For the connectivity, the dual 4G supporting SIM cards handset includes 4G LTE (compatible with Indian LTE bands), VoLTE, Bluetooth, 3G, GPRS/ EDGE, GPS, Glonass, Wi-Fi, and Micro-USB. Alongside, the Mi Bluetooth speaker was also launched at Rs. 1,999.
