Xiaomi, a Chinese smartphone company, is ready to sell Y-series smartphones in India for the first time on Wednesday. The smartphones are placed to garner the youth segment and are separated in specifications, as the Xiaomi Redmi Y1 is a selfie-focused gadget whereas Redmi Y1 Lite is the basic and entry-level smartphone that is aimed to be an India-branded model of the Redmi Note 5A.
Both the smartphones will be available for sale on Amazon and MI.com platform at 12 pm IST on Wednesday 8 Nov. Afterwards, the gadgets will be available in offline stores. The handsets are based upon MIUI 8 with a promise to get MIUI 9 updates in this month only.
Xiaomi Redmi Y1 is priced at Rs. 8,999 for the variant having 32GB storage and 3GB RAM and another variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage is priced at Rs. 10,999 in India. The basic smartphone Redmi Y1 Lite is priced at Rs. 6,999 configuring 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage.
The prominent spec of Xiaomi Redmi Y1 is its 16-megapixel front camera with LED selfie light to capture appealing selfies even in dim light conditions. For selfie lovers, it has a beautify 3.0 feature to enhance the appearance in selfies.
The handset will be available in Gold and Dark Grey color schemes. The rear placed fingerprint sensor is also there to sense your finger touch. The smartphone has dual-SIM and a 5.5-inch HD (720*1280 pixels) display unit with the protection Corning Gorilla Glass screen. Redmi Y1 has equipped with octa-core Snapdragon 435 SoC, concatenated with 3Gb of RAM. A 13-megapixel camera with PDAF and dual-LED flash is quite an adequate to choose the phone in this price range.
The 32GB inbuilt storage can be extended via microSD card slot up to 128GB. Concerning the connectivity and power, it has a 4G VoLTE and 3080mAh battery respectively. Redmi Y1 measures 153 x 76.2x7.7mm and weighs 153 grams.

Xiaomi Redmi Y1 Lite features a 5.5-inch HD screen and is equipped with 1.4GB quad-core Snapdragon 425 processor. It is a dual-SIM(Nano) phone with expandable memory via microSD card slot up to 128GB. The handset has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash & PDAF and a 5-megapixel front camera sensor. Battery capability includes 3080 mAh capacity with an IR blaster in it.
