Quite recently, the tech industry heard rumors that Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi would launch Mi 5 later in February. However, the latest reports indicate that to fill the gap between its last launch and the launch of Mi 5, the company is now launching the successor of Redmi2 smartphone dubbed as Redmi Note 3 on Tuesday i.e., January 12. It is the perfect budget phablet a user can have at a nominal price of $200.
The company teased the smartphone with launch details on Weibo (the Chinese equivalent of Twitter). The teaser image spilled some of the details about the screen size of the smartphone to be likely 5-inch and also included an image that showed the rear of the handset featuring a textured back panel. Though it would be too soon to take guesses, but since the launch date is nearing we can expect Xiaomi to reveal more information about the real panel design at the time of launch.
Just last week, Xiaomi Redmi 3 passed the Chinese telecommunications certification authority TENAA that gave an inside review and confirmation on most of the specs of the new handset. As per the reports, the handset comes with a 5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) resolution TFT display clubbed with an octa-core CPU clocked at 1.5GHz. It has 2GB of RAM with an internal storage capacity of 16GB that can easily be expanded up to 128GB using a MicroSD card.
It sports a 13-megapixel rear camera along with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera and 4G LTE support. It runs on the latest Android Lollipop version 5.1.1 with a dimension of 139.3x69.6x8.5mm and weigh just 143 grams. It features a metal unibody design with Mi branding at the back side while the front side had capacitive navigation buttons for settings, home and back. The images also claimed that Redmi 3 would pack all physical buttons on the ride panel.
