The Department of Telecommunication, India has recently blocked 32 insane websites in India just on the basis of some complains. A document has been leaked including the list of websites which have been blocked on the order of DoT. An array of websites including the popular Github and Vimeo have been faced this issue because of some anti-India content have been found on these websites.
Under the section of 69A of the Information Technology (IT) act, 2000 and the IT act Rules, 2009, the Indian government has made this order and immediately taken the action on all those 32 websites. Arrays of tweets and posts are claiming about such issue. When we begun to check the listed URLs, we have found that some are showing the message, "The URL you requested has been blocked as per DOT/HIGH COURT guidelines," and some are working properly. So, it could be possible that the order is in working or the officials are working on the order to implement tee-totally.
You can check the name of websites which have been blocked by DoT below:
Pranesh Prakash, policy director of the Center for Internet and Society posted on his twitter account that ISIS threat makes the Indian government to take such action. It’s not the first time, when India has done this. Several times, plenty of genuine websites had been blocked in India earlier. Pastebin and the Internet Archive have already tweeted about this blocking in India.
National Head of the BJP IT cell, Arvind Gupta tweeted, "The websites that have been blocked were based on an advisory by Anti Terrorism Squad, and were carrying Anti India content from ISIS." However, the DoT itself has not issued any statement regarding the same. Statements have been receiving from everywhere including the political party officials also, but the IT ministry and the government department are tight-lipped on such blocking-websites issue
