Android O Final Build Likely to Release on August 21

According to a tip released by some reliable sources on the internet, the latest version of Android, Android O, which is currently in the developer preview phase, will be released officially with its name and final build on August 21. The tipsters also claim that Google Pixel devices will get the update on the same day as its launch, while the other compatible phones may get it on the same day, or after a while. Google has, though, not given any hint towards the confirmation of the news.

The information has been confirmed by many trustworthy sources including David Ruddock of Android Police and the famous tipster Evan Blass. Blass has shared a tweet on Friday, claiming that Android O will release in the week of 8/21, most probably on the 21st.

Ruddock, in his tweet, claimed that the Android O will be updated on Pixel phones on August 21st. In a separate tweet, he said that the company will also confirm the name of the update on this day.

This indicates that the Google may reveal the name and launch the final build of Android O on the same day. It is not confirmed whether other compatible devices will receive the update on the same day or later on. These devices include the Nexus 5X, Nexus Player, Pixel C and Nexus 6P, which have been receiving the Android O developer beta version so far. These will get the final build update eventually but the date is still unknown. Many names have been touted for Android O so far, such as Oreo, Oatmeal Cookie, Android One and more but the actual one will only be revealed by Google.

As of now, Android O is in the last developer preview stage, which indicates a soon release of the final build. The company had started releasing the developer previews earlier this year to let the developers test and optimize the upcoming Android OS before its official launch. The Google has not yet officially confirmed any date for the release of Android 8.0 O.

Users can register themselves for the Android O preview version only if they have a compatible device. It will be later replaced by the stable version as soon as it is released.
