State-run govt. telecom service provider, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited(BSNL) has decided to upgrade its broadband speed upto 4 times at a minimum speed of 2Mbps with no additional cost for broadband customers on pan-India basis, from October 1.
The Telecom sector company, BSNL moves to came into the light of upgrading this offer under the initiative of Narendra Modi government's Digital India.
Union Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Ravi Shankar Prasad launched the facility in Gurgaon and said on the occasion that BSNL works efficiently even at the time of natural calamities, which is proven at the time of Jammu and Kashmir floods, Nepal earthquake and Andhra Pradesh cyclones.
He mentioned in his remarks that when BSNL delivers it services efficiently at the time of natural calamities, then it should be enough able to provide its excellence services at the normal conditions.
Prasad recalled that he was appointed the union minister for the communication at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee's government and at the time BSNL was in the profit of 10,000crore in 2004, and once again he has been given the same responsibility. “At the moment he said that BSNL has to improve and I'll support”.
BSNL is also offering 1GB free email box to their consumers instead of 50MB mail box. The country is trying to enhance its image and for this BSNL has to play a significant role in changing of the India's phase.
The minister added that under this scheme, the speed upgradation will be provided to the existing consumers as well as to new broadband customers. The speed of the existing broadband plans of 512Kbps and 1Mbps will be upgraded to 2Mbps.
This offer of upgradtion will enhance the customer experience of Internet surfing, enjoying live videos and many more streaming by the consumers at a lower price.
Minister of state for Defense, Rao Inderjeet Singh on the occasion added that this nationwide facility would give boost to the IT industries.
