Google Discontinues Map Maker, to Integrate it With Google Maps

Google, the leading techno manufacturing and developing company has now announced to discontinue its Map Maker service. But the users do not have to worry, as the company also has announced to add it with Google Maps. The changes in the application will be seen by the starting of 2017, which means by next year, the Google Map Maker will not be seen as a standalone application but the service will be provided by Google Maps.

Talking about the Map Maker, as the name suggests, it is basically an application which allows you to edit data in Google Maps. It is one of the sources by which the company gets regular updates. The company said in a blog post, “Starting today, edits made on Google Maps will no longer be available for moderation on Map Maker. This will allow us to streamline our efforts, speeding up the time for an edit to get published.”

The post further added, “This update will enable us to focus on providing the best editing and moderation experience within Google Maps on both desktops and on mobile. We'll continue to roll out new features to make sure you're able to do most of the things you've grown accustomed to doing in Map Maker - like edit roads - leading up to March 2017 and after.” This step by the firm indicates that the company is willing to provide all type of map services under a single app and for that, it has also said that if anyone is interested in being a part of improving Maps, He/She should join the Local Guides program.

There were already a lot of controversies for the Map Maker service, which also includes some spam attacks back in May 2015. Google have to take to make its services under a single roof.
