Google organized its I/O developer conference 2015 in San Francisco on Thursday with a long list of announcements. They put their efforts to make Google Play Store more family friendly. In I/O 2015, Google announce that over the next couple of weeks, they would disclose age based ratings of apps on its Play Store, making things easier for parents to discover which apps would be safe for their children to use.
The rating apps already gone live and now appearing for all apps on the Google Play Website. The age-based ratings to all android apps in the Play Store is determined by the International Age Rating Coalition (IARC). That means, the regional agencies will award ratings to apps depending laws in particular country or region. Google will publish those ratings on the Play Store depending on the location of the user. Developers, who want to get their applications approved by Google will have to go through a few simple steps and answer a few questions formulated by the IARC.
According to Google, the age based ratings will accord an easy way for developers to communicate familiar and locally relevant content ratings to their users and improve app discovery and reliable engagement by allowing people to choose content that is right for them.
