Google's little HDMI streaming dongle popularly called the Chromecast is clearly one of its best equipment items sold by far. In the latest reports, Google CEO Sundar Pichai has stated that the company has almost 30 million units of the Chromecast have been sold since its dispatch that happened three years back in 2013, out of which 5 million got sold in a span of past two months alone.
These numbers were uncovered by Pichai while he was declaring the company's financial status i.e., financial income of the second quarter. As per statistics being declared, Alphabet (parent company of Google) made $21.5 billion in terms of income for the second quarter of 2016. This incorporates the sales figures of the old Chromecast dongles, the second-generation Chromecast dongle, and the new Chromecast Audio.
One must recall that three months back i.e., in April 2016 of this year, Google revealed its Second-Generation Chromecast dongle and the new Chromecast Audio dongle in India, both priced at Rs 3,399. The media-streaming dongles are still available for purchase on a number of online e-commerce portals including Flipkart, Snapdeal, Paytm, and can also be purchased via offline retailers like Reliance Digital and Croma.
