Myntra is Going to Shutdown Desktop Site, Urges to Install App for Shopping

As we all know that today’s world is of handheld gadget world. Smartphones and tablets have become common in everyone. Even people have been used to with the apps. Keeping today’s growing market of smartphone apps, one of the popular e-commerce website Myntra has taken a decision to shutdown its desktop website.

Your eyes are on stalks on this decision of Myntra which was acquired by Flipkart last year. They are making such move to grab people to shop through its mobile app.

If goes to the words said by Myntra, then it will happen soon as 85 percent of users come on website through app and almost 63 percent customers will shop through Myntra mobile app. So, managing and maintaining on both ends is quite problematic.

Smartphones and tablets have become popular in today’s era though, but still people prefer shopping through desktop websites as per their convenience. So, how much effective this shutdown will be for the e-commerce giant is hard to speculate.

As per NDTV Gadget report, "focus on mobile, and will soon be mobile only." It is also said that all will happen on May 1. However, the company itself is quite on this topic and has not commented anything. The company had already closed its mobile site where it forces mobile and tablet users to install the app. The same fact is with Flipkart also which came in lights when the e-commerce giant had begun its Big App Shopping Day Sale last month in March. It has also been shut down its mobile website to force people to install app for shopping on smartphone.

Myntra has currently 4 million monthly active users across India. Well, it will definitely increase the number of its app users and may enhance the business also. But, completely shutting down the website doesn’t seem a good decision by the maker as most of Indians still rely on the desktop devices to do shopping online instead of having app in their smartphones.
