Ola Unveiled Social Ride Sharing Feature on its App

Indian Taxi car rental aggregator firm Ola announced to introduce a new feature on its app ‘Share Feature’, which allows the users to share the rides and make the ride cheaper.

This emerging feature is still in the beta testing phase and will be rolled out first in Bengaluru to selected users and will be made available across over the 5 cities in next three months. This service will be made available with an introductory flat fare of Rs.50.

Ishan Gupta, head of Ola Share shared a statement in an email, “With Share, we not only bring economy, convenience and comfort of travelling with people in your circles, but also increased inventory utilization of vehicles on the platform. This will also contribute towards significant reduction of traffic, congestion and pollution in our cities."  

He also added that this Sharing feature is a major step in the direction of sustainable direction, by allowing to serve the more people at a fraction of the cost, with drive partners benefiting from increased revenue.

Ola for the very first time introducing the concept of social groups on its app. With this feature you’ll be able to take your rides in a group, colleagues from a workplace and friends from a college can come together and share the rides amongst themselves.

This feature is allowing to share the rides with the maximum three people. A user can join multiple groups or simply choose to share the ride with anyone.
