When it comes to browsing on smartphones, users have a limited number of options with them like UC Browser, Google Chrome, Firefox browser, the default browser that comes preloaded in the Android smartphone and most of the users even make use of Opera Mini which no doubts stands apart from the other mentioned names due to its easy navigation, sleek UI and other features.
Opera Softwares - the company behind the release of Opera Mini browser for smartphones and Opera for desktops/laptops has now come up with another additional feature for its mobile users giving them the facility of blocking the annoying advertisements they encounter while browsing.
The company announced this new ad-blocking tool for all mobile platforms and have also added Opera Mini to its iOS devices as well as to Windows devices and Opera for Android. Not much time has gone by when the company declared to launch its native ad-blocker on Opera Mini for Android and Opera for computers.
To make it easier for users to enable the feature, the company explained the process in an email as per which users first need to tap on the O Menu no matter on which OS they are. Android users have to then navigate themselves via Settings >> Data Savings >> Block Ads while the iOS users need to follow Data Savings Summary >> Opera Turbo >> Block Ads. Last but not the least Windows users can do the same by clicking on Settings >> Block Ads.
When Nuno Sitima, SVP Mobile Browsers, Opera was asked to comment on the same, he stated "Users are demanding ad blockers because of the better browsing experience it offers. Opera users can now speed up their mobile surfing, skip extra data charges and stretch their internet packages even further by blocking in the browser intrusive and data-wasting ads and heavy tracking."
The company believes and also claims that this new addition of ad-blocker tool along with its compression feature enabled would make Opera for Android nearly 14 percent faster as compared to the Google Chrome browser in terms of loading of a webpage on average. As per the tests conducted, Opera for Android was found to download data from a webpage with a speed of 229KB which in figurative terms is nearly 84 percent less than Chrome.
