Qualcomm, the leading American chipset manufacturing firm has unveiled the successor of its Snapdragon 435 processor dubbed as Snapdragon 450 SoC at MWC Shanghai 2017. The latest 400-series SoC by the company has been fabricated using the 14nm FinFET process and has claimed to deliver enhanced performance and improved power consumption along with a number of features, which are mostly not seen on the 400-series range of chipsets by Qualcomm.
The new chipset by the company features a higher performing CPU and GPU along with 25 percent increase in performance as compared to its predecessor the Snapdragon 435. It also comes with an improved battery consumption and is blessed with the all new Quick Charge 3.0, which helps in providing fast charging capabilities to your device. Additional features of the new processor include faster LTE connectivity, support for dual camera setups and real-time bokeh effects in photography.
Fueled up with eight Cortex ARM A53 cores clocked up to 1.8GHz, the Snapdragon 450 is built and fabricated on the 14nm process and comes with Adreno 506, which supports LPDDR3 RAM. Interestingly, it also flaunts supports up to 1080p displays, VoLTE, video capture at up to 1080p at 60fps and dual-camera module support along with edge-to-edge displays.
The new Snapdragon 450 processor is believed to power mid-range smartphones from Q4-2017 and is likely to be the best choice for mid-ranged or budget smartphones, as it provides improved features and technology in a budget range. The platform’s new features like dual camera, Quick Charge 3.0, edge-to-edge display and fast LTE are new to the 400-series processors of the company and will undoubtedly transform the budget smartphone range completely.
